11 New high school graduates receive scholarships from Drummond

February 2, 2014

In the fulfillment of its commitment to the regions and communities of its area of influence, and as part of its policy focused on the expansion of education, Drummond will sponsor in 2014 the university studies of 11 new low-income high school graduates, who stand out because of their academic performance.

This time the La Loma and El Descanso Projects’ Scholarships will be awarded again in the capital cities of the departments of Magdalena and Cesar. In Santa Marta the ceremony will be held at the Estelar Santamar Hotel (Kogui room), on Thursday, January 30th at 4:00 p.m., and in Valledupar it will be held at the Sicarare Hotel on Friday, January 31st, at 4:00 p.m.

The La Loma and El Descanso Projects’ Scholarships Program, which began early in 2006, is part of the recognition of academic excellence through which Drummond has granted the complete college studies, plus financial aid for the students’ living expenses during their college career.

As of today Drummond has accompanied 53 students and supported their dream of becoming professionals. A dream that 11 more high school graduates will be able to fulfill this year by being part of the scholarships program, adding up to a total of 64 high school graduates benefited by the Program.

Since this initiative was implemented, there has been progress in the lives of the recipients and their families, since not only did they had the opportunity of completing their studies, but also several of them have had the opportunity to continue the process of training and professional growth by working in the Company.

Once again Drummond continues working to be a good neighbor, contributing to the communities and improving the quality of life of high school graduates located in the municipalities where we operate.
