As part of its commitment to contribute to the strengthening of its communities, Drummond Ltd., in cooperation with the Municipal Mayor’s Office and the Community Action Board, delivered the construction of the Community House in the village of Los Cerrajones, located in the village of La Aurora, municipality of Chiriguaná, Cesar.

With the delivery of a community hall, an administrative office, sanitary facilities, a patio with enclosure, furniture, technological resources and air conditioners, the company invested more than 200 million pesos in order to benefit all the inhabitants of the village.

“We commend Drummond for this initiative that it is making to the social component of citizen participation, especially to the community boards that we did not have a space to operate, but today we see that our needs are being met. Our thanks to Drummond for giving us this Community Home. We are proud to receive this stage,” said Jainer Salazar De Armas, president of Asojuntas from the municipality of Chiriguaná.

For the community, the Community House is an appropriate space for meetings, social gatherings, socio-cultural activities, educational workshops, and different initiatives that seek to strengthen the social fabric and promote local development.

“This project became a reality thanks to the efforts of the Community Action Board of the Los Cerrajones township. After receiving the project and consulting with the Mayor’s Office, we began the intervention. Today, the message we are sending to the community is to take ownership of this space, which does not belong to the administration or to Drummond, but it is a public asset for the use of the entire population,” said Yilda Pineda, senior community relations supervisor.

With these actions, Drummond ratifies its commitment to promote and foster civic values in the communities in its area of influence, in compliance with its Sustainable Development Goal, ‘Governance for Development’.
